There is a guy who is called Moon Shadow. He lives with his mom and grandma. His father is out at the Golden Mountains trying to earn money to feed the family and pay off the debts that they owe people. Before his father left for the Golden Mountains he made Moon Shadow a kite. One day Moon Shadow's father friend came over and is going to take Moon Shadow over to the Golden Mountain.
When Moon Shadow arrived he met alot of different people there. There he met his father. After a while, his father took him to Chinatown. They worked there for a while and they decided to move to another place. There were alot of "white demons". Moon shadow would usually work and have one hour for himself to do whatever. His father would be building a "dragonwing" (airplane). Sometimes Moon Shadow would spend time to look at his father build it.
One day there was a big earthquake followed by an earthquake. Everything was destroyed. Many people ran to a hill to stay away from the fire.
When Dragonwings was finally finished. They tested the airplane. Everything went well. However, when Moon Shadow's father was so happily flying his invention, he was about to land. He didn't notice that there was a big hill in front of him. By the time he tried to turn the plane in one direction, one of the wings crashed onto the hill and started to break. When the plane came to a complete stop. Everyone ran to Moon Shadow's father to see what happened to him. As one of Moon Shadow's uncle tried to see if there was a pulse there was! However, he found out that Moon Shadow's father has a broken leg and 2 broken ribs.
From then on Moon Shadow's father cried in pain expecially when he walks around. When Moon Shadow's father was fully recovered, he wanted to go back to China to bring his wife over to the Golden Mountains.
He decided that he would so he left Moon Shadow at the Golden Mountains and brought his mother to the Golden Mountains. From then on they became one family.
